Why Pendleton wool?

For over a century, Pendleton has been weaving wool blankets in our historic Oregon and Washington mills, where craftsmanship and quality remain at the heart of everything we do. From timeless heritage patterns to our Artist series® range, every blanket is designed to bring lasting comfort and style, whether in a countryside cottage or a modern city home. With the right care, a Pendleton blanket isn’t just for today - it’s for generations and here's a simple guide to maintaining yours...

What makes our wool so special?

Wool is a remarkable natural fibre with a unique structure of overlapping scales. This makes it naturally thermo-regulating, able to insulate, release heat, and wick away moisture - while also being effectively self-cleaning. Unlike synthetic fibres made from petroleum, wool is renewable and biodegradable, making it a sustainable choice.

Pendleton blankets are woven from the finest fleece sourced from trusted growers. Our buyers visit ranches to ensure the highest quality wool and the well-being of the sheep, because happy sheep provide the best fleece. A Pendleton wool blanket is more than warmth; it’s an investment in lasting quality.

How to Care for Your Pendleton Wool Blanket

1. Cleaning
Traditional Pendleton wool blankets should only be dry-cleaned when necessary. Wool naturally resists dirt and odours, so constant washing isn’t needed.

2. Everyday Care
Use your blanket often. Every few months, take it outside to shake, brush, and give it a short airing in sunlight—this freshens the fibres and helps prevent damage.

3. Stains
Treat small marks straight away by blotting (never rubbing) with cold water or sparkling water, then blot dry with a clean cloth.

4. Storing
Before storing for the summer, make sure your blanket is clean and dry. Store in airtight containers or bags, and refold and air them every few months.

5. Avoiding Damage

  • Never use bleach, harsh soaps, or high heat—they weaken and discolour wool.

  • Protect from moths by keeping storage areas clean, and give your blanket an occasional shake or short sunning.

  • If in doubt, or if your blanket has no care label, always choose dry cleaning.

A Pendleton blanket is built to last. With simple care, yours will stay beautiful and warm for generations.
